The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH), a non-profitable organization in Ghana have undertaken renovation works on the Gbi Wegbe Health Centre in the Hohoe Municipality.
The modernized facility was handed over to Ms. Gift Asempa, Hohoe Municipal Director of health services, on Friday 8th July 2022 in a short ceremony at the health centre located at Gbi Wegbe.
The president of the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare, Professor Chang-Yup Kim also known as Kwami Kim in his address said the main aim of the project is to improve Maternal Newborn Child health Services and to reduce maternal mortality ratio.
Professor Kim urged the people to take good care of the facility so it can attract more customers. He also indicated that “this is just the beginning of more projects to come.”
The acting director of health services in the Hohoe Municipality, Ms. Gift Asempa, in her welcome address expressed gratitude to the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) for their involvement in the physical, human resource and equipment development projects in the municipality and also making time to visit the facility at Wegbe.
Ms. Asempa said the “health centre was in such a deplorable state that, it was no longer possible to work from the place. All staff had to relocate to the Midwife’s quarters from where all services were rendered until” the completion of the renovation work.
Ms. Asempa in acknowledging the support of KOFIH mentioned some of the projects KOFIH has supported in the Hohoe municipality. These projects include mechanized boreholes at five (5) facilities namely Alavanyo Wudidi, Gbledi Gborgame, Gbi Wegbe, Akpafu Mempeasem, and Fodome Ahor. The provision of Polytanks which have since been connected to water for use by the facilities.
KOFIH also refurbished laboratories and procured USG Scan machines and printers for five (5) health centres namely Hohoe Adabraka Health Centre, Gbi Wegbe Health Centre, Lolobi Kumasi Health Centre, Fodome Helu Health Centre and Gbledi Gborgame Health Centre.
