VOLTA REGIONAL MAIDEN EDITION OF NATIONAL FITNESS DAY IN HOHOE

 The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Hohoe Hon Daniel noble Awume has urged Ghanaians to embrace healthy lifestyles to stay vital for the accelerated development in the country.

 He said this on Saturday 10th September 2022 at the launch of the maiden edition of national fitness day in Hohoe.

The program was organized by the Volta regional coordinating council (VRCC) and the Hohoe Municipal Assembly, which saw participants walk through the principal streets of Hohoe Township and finally converge at the St Francis’ collage of Education Park where a physical instructor took participants through some drills.

Mr. Awume who represented the Volta regional minister and in his own capacity as the MCE joined hundreds of participants both old and young who took part in the fitness exercise said it was necessary as a people to engage in regular exercise to maintain our fitness level to be able to go about our businesses

Mr. Awume said, “this initiative has come to stay forever because it brings good health and promotes unity by bringing people from diverse backgrounds for a common purpose.” He was hopeful that the subsequent events to be organized on the second Saturday of every month would be highly patronized.

Professor Oluwaseun O.Omotayo the Head of the Department of sports and Exercise Medical Science at the University of Health and Allied Science (UHAS) said the human body needs regular exercise to maintain physical fitness. He said “everybody needs to cultivate the habit of regular exercise”

Professor Oluwaseun said being physically active can improve brain health, help manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles and improve the ability to do everyday activities.
