Hon. Andrews Teddy Ofori, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) on Friday June 11, 2021, launch the Green Ghana Project in the Municipality by planting a tree at the bank of River Dayi.
The Green Ghana Project is an initiative by the President of Ghana His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo, where citizens will plant 5 million trees nationwide.
At the launch, the MCE said, Ten thousand (10,000) trees will be planted in the municipality and he planted the first one.
Hon. Ofori said, planting of trees will go a long way to reduce the impact of climate change threat on the environment.
He further admonished citizens to desist from the indiscriminate cutting down of trees, discouraged farming close to rivers, bush burning and other human activities which are a threat to the environment and the atmosphere.
The MCE urge all assembly members, Chiefs, Schools, Churches, Mosques, organisations and individuals to go to the Municipal Assembly premises for the trees since they are free.
The Presiding Member, Coordinating Director and his deputy, some Assembly members and heads of security services took their turn to plant trees.
