HOHOE MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS SECOND ORDINARY MEETING OF THE FOURTH SESSION OF THE 8TH ASSEMBLY

The Hohoe Municipal Assembly held a general meeting on the 6th of August, 2020, to deliberate and discuss matters arising in the municipality and to see the way forward. The meeting was presided over by Hon Chris Dzumador, the presiding member.

Hon Dzumador in his welcome address commended the Assembly on its performance especially in terms of infrastructural development in the municipality. He said the municipality is experiencing a massive facelift with projects such as construction of roads, markets and a sports stadium and urged everyone to contribute their quota to the development of the municipality.

The Executive Committee (EXECO) report which was presented by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon Andrews Teddy Ofori indicated a number of issues which have been deliberated on by the committee as well as recommendations for further discussion, adoption and approval by the Assembly.

The recommendations stated in the report include: the Assembly been asked to assist the DOVVSU Unit of the Hohoe Divisional Police Command with means of transportation to follow-up cases of defilement in the municipality; the Ghana Education Service partnering with Plan Ghana to incorporate child abuse and defilement cases in their child protection programmes in the municipality; the Assembly should expedite action on the establishment of a Police Post at Alavanyo to help combat crime; that the Assembly should register all motorbikes and identify them with stickers amongst others.

The MCE called on the house to consider and make appropriate decisions with regards to the recommendations made on the report.

He also pledged that the Assembly will provide Veronica Buckets, tissue papers and nose masks to the Assembly members to take to their various electoral areas for distribution to help in the fight against Covid-19.

There was a presentation on additional projects and programmes to be included in the 2020 budget by the Municipal Budget Analyst, Mr Emmanuel Deanoo.

The new Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Godwin Dzansi was introduced to the Assembly by the MCE.
