The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Hohoe Municipal Assembly Hon. Daniel Noble Awume urged Chiefs and people of Fodome Helu Electoral Area to unite and create enabling environment for development. He said this during a Town Hall meeting organized by the Hohoe Municipal Assembly at Fodome Helu to render administrative account on how the assembly performed in 2021 year. The Town Hall meeting was under the theme “Social Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability,”
In his opening remarks, Mr. Awume stated that there is no beautiful town or city which is built by one person, hence development should not be laid on the head of any individual person. He admonished the gathering to bring all hands on deck to help realize the vision of the president, his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Among the activities at the Town Hall Meeting was a presentation made by the Municipal Budget Analyst Mr. Emmanuel Deanoo who outlined the developmental projects the assembly undertook in the year 2021. These projects include the building of classroom blocks, health centers, construction of ultra-modern Hohoe central market, and the development of Light Industrial Area.
Mr. Deanoo expressed worry over the citizen’s inability and unwillingness to pay property rates and other measures put in place to support revenue mobilization. He said the assembly did not cover all projects earmarked due to limited resources and the assembly’s inability to mobilize revenue to meet budget requirements.
Mrs. Valarie Datsa-Agbotse (Hohoe Municipal Director of Education) in her presentation praised the pupils of the Fodome circuit for their performance in the recent BECE. She pointed out that they had overall best aggregate of 10. According to the Municipal Director of Education, even though the pupils performed well, some of the shortfalls that needed attention include teacher and learners truancy, under-staffing and parental neglects.
In her address, Mrs. Gift Asempa the Municipal Director of Health mentioned that a lot of improvements have been achieved at the Fodome Health center. She listed the increase in staff strength from 8 to 17, availability of standard delivery bed, oxygen and many consumables available at the Health Center as some of the improvements. Mrs. Asempa also stated that there would soon be a visiting doctor to further improve on service delivery to the community.
Togbe Adipa II, the Divisional Chief of Fodome Helu, and the Warlord of Fodome Traditional Area in a show of appreciation commended the MCE and the Assembly for organizing the Town Hall Meeting to render accounts to the people under his care.
